26. Christopher Winkles

On the latest episode of Basement Jams Podcast our guest was Homer’s Bar and Music Venue Owner Operator Christopher Glen Winkles. We even did the whole interview live on the stage at Homer’s! it was a great time and we are planning many more live podcasts. Audio was even engineered by Vincent Tucker. I was very hands off. Thanks for the sweet intro Vincent. I stepped up on the stage to discuss many topics with Chris. He talked about the bar life, his love of music, being a big supporter of local artists and painters, and so much more. Listen and learn about a music venue doing its best to keep supporting music and bring you new and enjoyable entertainment.

New Track Alert! Wasteland-‘Remember Us While We’re Still Here’

Wasteland are two Austin based artists. Tyelur Watkins goes by Buttery T and Alexander Faulkenberry goes by the much shorter Faulk. Tyelur reached out after hearing about the page from Medizenkid. I am more than happy to check out new music and give my thoughts. When I first heard this track, It made me think of Rammstein just off the background sound. That low dark ominous sound, but then you add a beat and some higher pitch bells and you have the recipe for a very tight beat. The vocals are very different from a lot of rap I have been listening to lately. It very much makes me think of a serious Lil Dicky. Not in style but in vocal cadence or that deep monotone sound. I am more of a high speed rap fan, just like I like my metal, but I did not dislike the slower pace and rhythm of this track. Overall I am impressed. Word is they are dropping a new one tomorrow at 5 p.m. Check these guys out on Instagram at https://soundcloud.com/wastelanduds then please let us know what you think as well!

The new single “Small Town Betty”off the upcoming E.P. ‘The Revival’ from Kind Liars is available to listen to on youtube right now. I heard it and I really dig the track. It doesn’t hurt that ol Michael Hill is on drums. You may have heard him on several ‘A Threat To The Enemy’ podcasts we have done. Give the song a listen and let us know what you think!
